A recent article in Runners World is a ‘must read’ and says it all about why Nordic Walking is such an exciting pursuit - and the perfect accompaniment to any cross training regime:
I think this quote is spot on: ‘Nordic walking takes fitness walking to a new level by adding poles to produce an incredible upper body workout,’ Malin Svensson, CPT, an International Nordic Walking Association (INWA) master trainer and coach.
Nordic Walking is certainly an exciting sport which can be taken as far as you want to take it. It improves posture and enhances the normal walking motion. As with any sport, with practice and focus you can enjoy building up your stamina and your ability to cover increased distances comfortably, at your desired speed.
Svensson adds: ‘This workout increases your endurance, strengthens your core, arms, chest, back, buttocks and legs, improves your posture and flexibility and it takes stress off your ankle, knee and hip joints.’
What’s not to like?!
